Travel Innovation: United Brings Comfort Dogs to O'Hare to Ease the Stress of Holiday Flying

Traveling during the holidays can get kind of insane. From long lines at airport check-in, to delayed flights, to missed connections, traveling through Chicago's O'Hare airport can sometimes be a nightmare.

But it's tough to be too stressed when you're surrounded by a dozen golden retrievers.

Chicago-based United has partnered with Lutheran Church Charities K-9 Comfort Dogs to bring 48 pups to O'Hare to greet travelers as they enter the airport. United is also offering the comfort dogs at Houston's George Bush airport.

The Dogs arrived on Saturday and will remain in Terminal 1 at O'Hare through Tuesday.

It's a nice marketing opportunity for United, which has had a somewhat turbulent 2014. But United has made innovation a priority this year as it was the first airline to allow passengers to scan passports for international check-in, it was one of the first companies to partner with Uber when the ridesharing company opened its API, and it recently gave all of its 23,000 flight attendants with an iPhone 6 Plus.
